Session at ScreencastCamp 2011

ScreencastCamp is a “participatory unconference,” which means the attendees (YOU) make the event as great as it can be. The idea is for everyone to participate in some way–that may be leading a session (it’s not scary, we promise!), tweeting, blogging, taking photos–you name it.

The program isn’t determined beforehand—it’s created the first day by the participants. Anyone with something to contribute or with the desire to learn is welcome and invited to join. And, it’s free!

How it’s organized

Well, it really isn’t organized until people start arriving! Sessions are not booked ahead of time like an ordinary conference. Instead, we’ll open up a whiteboard “grid” with empty slots–one column for each room and one row for each time slot. We’ll have separate grids for Saturday and Sunday. The grid will open on Friday, August 8 at 5 p.m.

Session topics

You can run a session on anything you want. Past BarCamp sessions have ranged from discussions on programming and web design to cupcakes and photography. At ScreencastCamp, the sessions can be just as wide-ranging. It doesn’t need to be technical or formal, and you don’t need to be the only one leading a session. Partner with another attendee or get a panel together to talk about a particular topic.

We recommend that you attend sessions that you know less about, that way you’ll learn more. If you don’t see a session on the schedule that interests you, that’s a great opportunity to step up and lead one!

Evening fun

On Friday and Saturday evenings, we’ll have dinner and drinks cook-out style with music, games, movies, and networking to follow. These tend to go late into the night, so everyone is welcome to camp onsite both nights.

Food and drink

Remember–all food and drinks from Friday night through Sunday afternoon are provided free to you by TechSmith!
